Oitavos

Opened in 2001, this magnificent links course has now changed its name to Oitavos Dunes. It is set out in a Scottish links style within the pines and dunes of the Quinta da Marinha estate and golfers will enjoy the views of the Atlantic Ocean, visible from most of the course, and the Sintra mountains offer fantastic scenery in the background. The opening four holes show the quality of this course with tree-lined fairways, carefully placed bunkers and tight greens requiring accuracy on the approach with the Atlantic breezes providing another challenge.

 

The par 3 9th is a particularly memorable hole where you look to be playing directly into the ocean, and the par 3 14th plays across a ravine that also skirts to the right of the hole. Heading back to home, the finish is a tricky dog-leg left, with trees and dunes bordering a narrow fairway.
